LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) - Nebraska running back Emmett Johnson is achieving the success he has always known he could.
“Everything that he’s been through since he got here is starting to pay off,” offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen said.
The Huskers junior running back, who ranks second in the Big Ten and eighth nationally with 650 rushing yards, will return to his hometown of Minneapolis when Nebraska faces Minnesota Friday.
The performance comes after a statement game against Maryland, where Johnson rushed for a career-high 176 yards and recorded a 50-yard run, the longest of his Husker tenure.
“He just spoke it into existence,” junior defensive lineman said Cameron Lenhardt. “To see him do that, it’s like, ‘Alright, now I’ve got to go match that energy.’”
