OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Many homeowners may not know they share their property with an easement until the painted lines and flags show up in their backyard.

Internet providers have the right to run cable, usually underground.

But what a subcontractor left behind upsets an Elkhorn couple, and in a First Alert 6 investigation, Mike McKnight shows us why.

CenturyLink has been installing cable in the neighborhood, and a subcontractor tells a homeowner a crew will be working in the backyard.

But expecting unseen underground cable, First Alert Six Chief Meteorologist Emily Roehler and husband Nick Coulter wouldn’t have predicted what’s left standing.

“Got this tower with an orange sticker on it, and we had no idea this was going to be put up in our yard,” said Nick Coulter, homeowner.
