PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A 67-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot during an apparent argument inside a West Philadelphia apartment complex.

The shooting occurred around 8 p.m. Tuesday on the 6000 block of Baltimore Avenue.

According to investigators, the victim was shot in the abdomen while standing in the hallway outside his apartment door.

"They were in the hallway right outside of the apartment door where the 67-year-old lives. There was an argument and it escalated to shots fired," said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Police say at least five shots were fired, and bullet holes were found in the victim's door and the wall of the apartment.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition.
