The superintendent of the Bethel Park School District, which serves roughly 4,000 students across eight schools in the South Hills of the Pittsburgh area, has announced his retirement.

In a news release Tuesday, the Bethel Park School District said James Walsh plans to retire following the 2025-26 school year.

Mr. Walsh has served as superintendent since March 2021.

“It has truly been the honor of my lifetime to serve as Superintendent of the Bethel Park School District,” said Mr. Walsh in the release. "Together, we have worked tirelessly to ensure that our students have every opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in a constantly changing world. I am grateful to the Board of School Directors, our amazing staff, families, and most of all, our students for their trust in me.”
