HOUMA, La. —

Houma police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting that happened Friday night on Hobson Street.

Jamel Banks, 38, was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, illegal discharge of a weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Advertisement

According to police, on Oct. 10, around 9:50 p.m. they responded to reports of a shooting in the 500 block of Hobson Street.

When they arrived at the scene, they found a 47-year-old man lying in the roadway, suffering from at least three gunshot wounds to the back of his legs.

According to the victim, he was riding his bike along Hobson Street when he observed Banks approaching him on a bike.
