CHILDERSBURG, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The Childersburg Police Department has set up a new way to keep residents safe.

According to police, the new Safe Exchange Zone is a designated safe place for a variety of events. Including online marketplace transactions, child custody exchanges and returning or exchanging property.

The zone is located at 34011 US Hwy 280.

Police say the area is under 24-hour surveillance. The area is marked by two signs and the photo the police department provided shows two parking spots with green lines.

The Childersburg Police Department said they encourage the community to use the Safe Exchange Zone to help ensure safe, secure exchanges and transactions.
