A married couple in their 70s died in a house fire in Graham on Monday, according to the Pierce County sheriff’s office.
A passerby saw smoke and flames coming from a house around 11 a.m. in the 27600 block of Webster Road East, according to a blotter post. The passerby tried to enter the home, but the flames were too hot. The couple died at the scene.
“The preliminary investigation is showing nothing suspicious about this,” sheriff’s spokesperson Deputy Carly Cappetto said in a video posted by the sheriff’s office.
Deputies were investigating the deaths, while Central Pierce Fire and the fire marshal were investigating the cause of the fire.
