CALHOUN FALLS, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Officials held a public safety meeting in Calhoun Falls on Tuesday to address the concerns over the lack of police officers in the town.

The interim police chief and the Abbeville County sheriff met with residents to reassure them that they are being protected in spite of the fact that the town is down to only two full-time officers.

The sheriff said there is one part-time officer on the weekends, and deputies are stepping in to help with security until the town is fully staffed. Five full-time officers are needed for a full staff.

The former Calhoun Falls police chief previously resigned in September.
