The Algonquin Barons overcame a mountain of penalty flags and a slow start to cruise past the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears 27-7 in the final game of the NDA (Nipissing District Athletics) regular season. The game was played on a great night for football at Cundari Field.
The Barons lost their first game of the year and then got quarterback Dayne Meyer back from an injury and haven’t lost since. Algonquin finishes the year 3-1 and clinches first over West Ferris via tiebreaker. The Bears went 0-4.
Tuesday night featured plenty of flags in the first half and just one point. Algonquin scored that point but they did have a punt return for a touchdown called by due to a penalty.
