ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Monroe County Legislature has unanimously approved a $6.6 million opioid settlement with two companies, aimed at bolstering opioid response efforts.

The funds from the settlement will be allocated to a special trust fund dedicated to addressing the opioid crisis in the county. This decision is part of a broader legal settlement involving lawsuits against Purdue Pharma and a group of other pharmaceutical companies.

Legislator Rachel Barnhart has raised concerns about the transparency of fund management, advocating for a more detailed disclosure of expenditures. "I think instead a list of expenditures would be very helpful," Barnhart said, emphasizing the need for a disclosure requirement on fund usage.
