WESTERVILLE, Ohio — On what would have been Charlie Kirk’s 32nd birthday, more than a hundred supporters gathered at Alum Creek Park in Westerville on Tuesday night for a candlelight prayer vigil honoring the conservative activist.
“Today is Charlie's 32nd birthday, his first birthday spent with the Lord,” said organizer Kayla Crawford, opening the event.
Kirk, the co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed on Sept. 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University.
“It seems like yesterday," Crawford told 10TV. "I didn't believe it at first. I saw he had got shot, and I just kept refreshing my feed. There's no way, there's no way he's gone."
Crawford, a Westerville resident, said she felt compelled to organize the vigil after poor turnout at a previous one.
