Haji Wright scored two goals and the United States defeated Australia 2-1 on Tuesday, snapping the Socceroos' 12-match unbeaten streak in an international football friendly at Denver.

The Australians had been on a seven-match win streak, including a 1-0 victory last Friday over Canada at Montreal, and surrendered only two goals in their past five matches.

The Aussies have qualified to compete in next year's World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada.

The Americans, who drew Ecuador 1-1 at Austin last Friday, rallied for their first comeback triumph under coach Mauricio Pochettino.
