More than 40 Greater Manchester Police officers were sacked and barred from working in policing ever again, new figures showed on Wednesday. The force recorded the second-highest number in the country, behind the Metropolitan Police, but it is the country's second largest police force.
Nationally, more than 730 police officers were placed on the College of Policing's 'barred list' in 2024, the statistics showed. GMP's total was 43.
The force welcomed a law change last year allowing chief constables and senior police leaders - rather than independent chairs - to sack rogue cops after misconduct hearings.
