CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Carbondale Police Department responded to reports of shots fired in the 200 block of South Emerald in the late hours of Tuesday.

Authorities alerted the public at 11:37 p.m. on October 14 to avoid the area.

Police said they have one person of interest in custody in connection to the shots fired incident.

Officials assured the public there is no known threat.
