Western Colorado rainstorms rare in their volume continued to further soak the region Tuesday, with some more moisture in the forecast for today.

The rain continues to cause flooding problems in southwest Colorado, but fortunately, the National Weather Service hasn’t been receiving any reports of slides on area burn scars, Erin Walter, agency hydrologist at its Grand Junction office, said Tuesday.

From Friday through mid-morning on Tuesday, the office had recorded nearly 2.5 inches of rain in the city. On Friday alone, 1.35 inches of rain fell at the Grand Junction Regional Airport. That’s the seventh-highest one-day amount ever in the city, and the largest amount of moisture to fall in Grand Junction in one day since 1974, according to the Weather Service.
