A downtown Sarasota restaurant icon — one that I’ve happily frequented for decades, including another pleasant visit this week for pizza at the bar — will be closing soon and moving after 37 years in the same historic setting.
The family-owned Caragiulos Italian American Restaurant will shut the doors at its 69 S. Palm Ave. location, in the historic Mira Mar building and featuring vibrant décor that reflects its Roaring ’20s setting, after a final day of business Sunday, Oct. 26. Its long, rich history dates back to 1989 and includes praise from celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse and an appearance on his Cooking Channel television show .
