New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Oct. 14 that a project to transform Sullivan County International Airport into a modern, state-of-the-art facility has been completed.

The project, which began in May 2023, was awarded $18.5 million from the governor's $230 million Upstate Airport Economic Development and Revitalization Competition.

The total estimated cost of the project was approximately $24 million. Construction was overseen by the state Department of Transportation.

Hochul said the project heralds continued economic growth and tourism in the Catskills region.

The airport now has a modern, 15,000-square-foot, energy-efficient terminal that will provide a welcoming experience to visitors, local businesses and community members alike.
