Party Leader Jim Dinn comfortably retained his seat in St. John’s Centre.

And after seven kicks at the can, Sheilagh O’Leary finally broke through in drama-filled St. John’s East-Quidi Vidi.

The NDP lost it to the Liberals by 53 votes in the ‘pandemic election,’ which was challenged in court and saw the result overturned, with Minister John Abbott vacating his seat and not running again.

Dinn says they proved a lot of people wrong, and plan to expand on that next time around.

“Opposition parties said that voting NDP is not a viable option, they said we have no real plan. Well, we had all 40 candidates and a costed platform that showed how we were going to get there, we had a plan,” he said. “
