Millions of pensioners will soon see their bank accounts boosted by up to £300.

Winter Fuel Payments will be arriving over the next few weeks, to help lower-income over-65s with energy costs.

It means pensioners should be keeping an eye on their bank accounts from November 1.

Retirees will be eligible if they have annual incomes below £35,000, and this works out to around nine million people.

Those aged under 80 will get £200 while those over 80 will receive the higher amount of £300.

Eligible households shouldn't worry if the money doesn't arrive straightaway on November 1.
