Cole Caufield scored twice to lift the Montreal Canadiens to a 5-4 overtime win over the Seattle Kraken on home opening night at the Bell Centre on Tuesday.

Ivan Demidov added a goal and an assist. He scored the game-tying goal with 1:41 left in the third period.

Alex Newhook and Kirby Dach each lit the lamp for the first time this season.

Prior to puck drop, the club paid tribute to late goaltender Ken Dryden in the pregame ceremony. They placed his mask on the net.

The players also got to pick their walk-on music, not unlike baseball players do when they walk to the plate. An interesting mix of new and older songs. The club posted the songs on their X feed.

The lone goal in the first period came from Newhook on a slick feed by Demidov. 1-0 Habs after 20 minutes.
