Police in Kasungu have arrested a 37-year-old man, Daniel Gama, after he was found in possession of a homemade muzzle-loading rifle and one round of ammunition.

The arrest took place on 13 October 2025 in Kasankha Village, within Kasungu Municipality.

Assistant Public Relations Officer for Kasungu Police, Chifundo Nedi, confirmed the incident, stating that officers were conducting intelligence-led patrols when they received a tip-off from a well-wisher about the suspect.

Acting on the information, officers immediately proceeded to Gama’s residence, where they discovered and seized the firearm along with the ammunition.

Gama, who is originally from Chiswe Village in the area of Traditional Authority Chikumbu in Mulanje District, is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
