LOUISVILLE, Ky. — More than five decades ago, Diane Crump shattered barriers by becoming the first woman to ride in the Kentucky Derby. Now, at 77 years old, the legendary jockey is sharing what may be her final message with the Commonwealth and Derby fans, following a heartbreaking diagnosis.

Crump, who made history aboard a horse named Fathom in the 96th Kentucky Derby 1970, has been diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Doctors have given her just six months to live.

In an interview with WHAS11, Crump and her daughter, Della Payne, discussed her final chapter, legacy, and the outpouring of support she has received.
