GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – Thousands of people across the Upstate are suffering from some form of hearing loss, according to experts with the hearing clinic, Beltone. A new facility is helping those individuals to get the help they need.
The Beltone Clinic in Greenville is now open and accepting new patients. Staff told 7NEWS they’re providing free screenings for hearing loss to those who visit.
Hearing care practitioner with Beltone, Rhonda Kingman, said staff use high- and low-toned beeps, word recognition and other methods to determine how severe a person’s hearing loss is.
“It is in decibels, primarily. So somebody who is at zero decibels would have normal hearing or no hearing loss. For it to be profound hearing loss, you would have to be at 90 dB or greater,” said Kingman. “So, jus
