A great cookbook starts with great cooking. Great cooking starts with great ingredients.

And in Cliffside Park, for some 70 years, all these things have been associated with a great local name: Catanzaro.

Catanzaro as in Anthony Catanzaro — who ran, first, the family seafood store that was a fixture in the town since the 1950s, and then the restaurant, Catanzaro's, that evolved out of it.

Catanzaro, also, as in Marisa Catanzaro, wife of Anthony — who did the cooking in the restaurant, based on recipes that go back generations in her Salerno family, and now preserved in her new cookbook, "The Next Generation: Authentic Italian Cooking."
