BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - It is officially deer season. During the months of October to December, when the weather gets cooler, deer and other wildlife work their way down to the warmer states. Which means, you may notice more deer in the community, especially on the roadways.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says there are about one million deer-car accidents each year. The odds or chances of hitting a deer with your vehicle are about 1 out of 116. A major lean towards unlikely, yet drivers and passengers should be aware of the damages deer can have on their vehicle, as well as the driver and passenger(s).
Hitting a deer can total your car. The size of the deer, the size of your car, and the velocity at which the car strikes the deer all play a role in just how serious
