MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has issued a warning to drivers about the increase of deer activity on Wisconsin roads.

According to WisDOT, there were more than 17,000 deer-related crashes in 2024. Those crashes resulted in nine deaths and over 700 injuries.

In Dane County alone, there were over 700 crashes related to deer in 2024. Waukesha County had the most deer-related accidents, with 937 crashes in 2024.

More than one-third of those crashes happened in October and November, WisDOT says.
