A suo motu case has been registered at the Belthangady Police Station against activist Jayant T. for allegedly disseminating false information related to the externment order issued against Mahesh Shetty Timarodi.

On September 18, Deputy Commissioner of Puttur, Stella Varghese, ordered the externment of Mahesh Shetty Timarodi—a pro-Sowjanya activist—from Belthangady for a period of one year.

He was directed to relocate to Manvi taluk in Raichur district.

According to police, despite being aware of the legal validity of the order, Jayant T. allegedly created and circulated a video containing misleading claims, aimed at inciting public sentiment and defaming the Bantwal Deputy Superintendent of Police and the Puttur Assistant Commissioner.
