GILBERT, Ariz. — Frustrated Gilbert residents packed Town Hall Tuesday night, demanding answers over water bills that have suddenly skyrocketed by hundreds — and in some cases, thousands — of dollars.
During the town council meeting, dozens of homeowners shared stories of unexplained spikes in their monthly statements, questioning how their water usage could have jumped so drastically.
12News has reviewed multiple water usage charts provided to us by Gilbert residents. They showed a spike in specific months, where their water habits haven't changed, but their bill says otherwise.
In one case, a woman's water consumption varied between 6,000 - 10,000 gallons of water used a month, but in July, her usage jumped to 35,000 gallons of water.
