MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - October 15 is National Cheese Curd Day, and of course, Wisconsin made it happen.

Culver’s started the holiday in 2015. The company said the goal is to “honor and celebrate the uniquely delightful goodness of cheese curds.”

This year, Culver’s released Jalapeño Cheese Curds to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the holiday. The new curds will be on the menu through the end of the month, or while supplies last. Last year, the limited-edition flavor was Hot Honey Cheese Curds.

The restaurant chain was founded in Wisconsin with the first location in Sauk City.

In 2022, Culver’s said it served over 41 million orders of cheese curds, which would be six orders for every person in Wisconsin.

Some historians suggest fried cheese curds were first enjoyed in Ancient Rome.
