In Jaisalmer, 21 people have died in a sleeper bus fire. Most of the victims are believed to have died due to suffocation from carbon monoxide. Forensic experts who first entered the bus to collect evidence said this is likely the main reason for the high number of deaths. The exact cause will be confirmed only after a full investigation is completed.
Experts say that the burning of plastic, rexine, and curtains inside the packed AC bus created a mixture of several gases. This turned the bus into such a gas chamber that the passengers sleeping in the sleeper berths did not get a chance to escape. They probably suffocated first. After that, their bodies were burnt in the intensifying fire.
The bus was still smoldering 12 hours after the accident. After it was cooled down, when the FSL tea
