HIGHGATE, Vt. (WCAX) - One person is dead after being hit by a car on Highgate Road.

Just after 11 p.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to an accident on Highgate Road.

They say that 40-year-old Corey Lemoine was walking near the centerline when he was hit by a truck driven by 36-year-old Blake Issacs.

Lemoine was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe fog in the area caused low visibility, and do not believe speeding, drugs, or alcohol contributed to the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
