The Virginia Department of Historic Resources (DHR) has announced a new historical marker on the Blue Ridge Parkway that will be coming to Nelson County.

The Virginia Board of Historic Resources approved the marker, along with seven others across the state, on Sept. 18 during its quarterly meeting in Richmond hosted by DHR.

Just west of the Rockfish Gap scenic overlook in Nelson County lies the northern terminus of the Blue Ridge Parkway, a 469-mile-long scenic route that links Shenandoah National Park in Virginia with Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina.
