WELD COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - A deputy is recovering, and several lanes of I-25 are closed after a crash involving a semi hauling a trailer Wednesday morning.

According to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP), a Weld County Deputy was parked behind a Nissan Rogue on the right shoulder waiting for a tow after a DUI arrest. A semi then reportedly hit the deputy’s patrol vehicle.

Troopers responded to the crash at 4:13 a.m. The deputy was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, and the driver of the semi did not report any injuries, CSP said.

The semi ran off the road into a ditch between I-25 and Frontage Road. Only one southbound lane of I-25 is open near milepost 236.

Troopers urge drivers to use alternate routes and to expect significant delays through the morning commute.
