A driver died in a single-vehicle crash in Cedar City on Tuesday night.

The incident, which reportedly happened at approximately 7:30 p.m. at the T-intersection where Industrial Road meets Airport Road, involved a dark gray Nissan Armada SUV with an adult male driver as its only occupant.

Cedar City Police Sgt. Kirk Lovell said the driver, a man in his late 20s, was heading west on Industrial Road at a high speed.

“We're uncertain if there's any other contributing factors,” Lovell told Cedar City News at the scene, adding, “I don't know if he didn't see the intersection, but unfortunately, he just hit the end of the road.”

The vehicle ended up crashing directly into a large tree on the west side of Industrial Road. It also knocked off the top part of a sign belonging to a sign business
