During meetings on Wednesday and Thursday this week, commissioners from both BC South Fire Protection District and Ketchum Fire Protection District will vote on the first steps toward a consolidation plan.

“The October votes serve as a symbolic gesture of commitment,” BC South Fire Chief Kevan Crawley said in a press release. “Upon approval by both boards, a joint resolution will authorize our departments to proceed—not as a final consolidation, but as a good-faith step toward full integration by January 2027.”

Upon full consolidation, Crawley will serve as the chief for the new, unified district.
