NEW BRITAIN, Conn — The grandparents of 11-year-old Jacqueline “Mimi” Torres-Garcia say they are beginning to see justice for their beloved granddaughter, as three family members faced a judge Tuesday in connection with the young girl’s death.
Karla Garcia, the girl's mother; Jackelyn Garcia, the girl's aunt; and Jonatan Nanita, the mother's boyfriend, were ordered held on bond during the hearing at the Litchfield County Superior Court in Torrington. Karla and Jonatan face a $5 million bond, while Jackelyn was given a $1 million bond.
Karla and Jonatan are facing the most serious charges, including murder with special circumstances and conspiracy to commit murder, among others. All three were charged with cruelty to persons under 19 years of age.
