SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The Sergeant Bluff-Luton School District has proposed a $37 million bond issue to build a new primary school attached to the existing elementary school building.
The district has tried unsuccessfully to pass a bond issue for 20 years.
Superintendent Chad Janzen said the district tried to pass a $54 million bond in 2024 to fund construction of a new primary building onto the existing elementary building, as well as pay for an additional building and repairs.
That bond failed by less than five percent.
Janzen said the proposed bond issue is more narrowly focused to meet the most pressing need in the school district.
