SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The Sioux City Parks and Recreation Department has announced the day it will be removing the boat docks for the winter season.
The city says the removal is expected to take place on Friday, Oct. 17.
Even though boat docks are expected to be removed from the water, the Christ Larsen Boat Ramp will remain open, according to city leaders.
“Winterizing boat docks is a proactive step to preserve the equipment and ensure they are ready for next season,” the City of Sioux City said, “This process is critical in cold and freezing water, as shifting ice can cause severe damage to docks that are left in the water.”
Residents can expect to see the boat docks reinstalled in the spring once the ice melts.
