PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Parke County man driving a four-wheeler is in custody after leading police on a chase.

On Tuesday, October 14, a deputy with the Parke County Sheriff's Office attempted to make a traffic stop on a four-wheeler driven by 41-year-old James Sheckler.

Sheckler allegedly blew a stop sign while "driving at a high rate of speed," said the sheriff's office.

Officials said Sheckler took off once the deputy turned on his emergency lights.

Sheckler then allegedly led officers to a home on West Kates Lane, before leaving the vehicle and running into the home. Sheckler was then taken into custody by the deputy.

Sheckler has been charged with resisting law enforcement using a vehicle and suspended prior. He is now being held in the Parke County Jail on no bond.
