VALPARAISO — A 20-year-old Valparaiso-area man was arrested after reportedly assaulting a family member after internet service was turned off at home in hopes of encouraging him to focus more on school work, according to Porter County police.

Police said they were called to the home shortly before noon Tuesday where the distraught family member, who had redness to the face, told them the young man has been struggling with grades in college and his internet access was being limited in hopes of encouraging him to focus more on schoolwork.

The family member said the young man has frequent outbursts, especially during disagreements, police said.
