Plans to replace CCTV cameras as well as the public address and voice alarm (PAVA) system at Glasgow’s Central Station have been submitted to Glasgow City Council.
Central Station is an A-listed building situated on Gordon Street, Hope Street and Union Street and first opened in 1879 before being expanded between 1899 and 1905 to provide 13 platforms.
The current system which was installed in 2009 is being overhauled as part of a joint programme to replace the CCTV in Network Rail’s managed stations including Edinburgh Waverley.
There are 175 CCTV cameras and 60 speakers within this area and all are proposed to be replaced, aside from 4 speakers which are to be removed.
