At approximately 8:41 a.m. on Wednesday morning, officers received a report of an unrestrained dog on Russel Street that had bitten one child and was attempting to bite another, Grey Bruce OPP said in a news release. Article content

The owner was there attempting to restrain the animal, but was unsuccessful, police added.
When officers arrived they encountered the aggressive dog, it said in the release. One of the officers sustained a bite while attempting to gain control of the animal, police added.
In the interest of public safety, police shot the dog, which was later euthanized, the release said.
