MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WITN) - A man from our neighboring state reeled in a North Carolina state record fish off the Outer Banks.

Marine Fisheries has announced that Henry Barksdale, of Sutherland, Virginia, has broken the state record for the Almaco Jack.

Barksdale’s catch was landed off Hatteras on September 18. He used an Okuma Cedros rod and Daiwa Saltist LD 50 reel with an 80-pound braid.

According to the release, his Almaco Jack was 60 pounds, 8 ounces and 46 inches tall, from nose to tail, and 32 inches wide.
