MACON COUNTY, Tenn. (WSMV) - Schools in Macon County were placed under a brief “soft lockdown” as police investigated a tip in the area.

The Macon County Sheriff’s Office said the lockdown happened on Wednesday as they worked with the Lafayette Police Department in the area.

“The Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Lafayette Police Department regarding an incident that took place within the city limits of Lafayette,” a message from MCSO said. “While assisting with the investigation, deputies located a vehicle connected to the situation on Coolidge Road near the creek.”
