MADISON (WKOW)— As most high school students are still in bed, the Camp Randall Rowing Club is already hard at work by 6 a.m.
The team practices three mornings and five afternoons each week as they prepare for the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, the largest three-day rowing competition in the world. Fifteen athletes from the club will travel to Boston to compete on Sunday, Oct. 19.
They will join more than 11,000 rowers racing along the Charles River. While they train year-round, their head coach noted a different approach for this event.
"It's a little bit longer, you're training with a lot of more endurance, a lot of distance, rather than pure speed and sprints," said head coach Will Russell.
