HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Authorities in Hot Springs said a police sergeant and his wife were arrested after they were allegedly involved in a fight with each other.

According to the Hot Springs Police Department, 49-year-old Joey Williams and his wife, 47-year-old Julie Williams, were arrested.

Police said they were called to a local hospital Tuesday regarding a battery. After arriving, officers said Julie Williams stated that she had been in a fight with her husband at their home. She accused him of slapping her across the face, officers said.

Officers said Joey Williams stated that he slapped his wife after she had slapped him across the face.

Joey Williams is facing a charge of third-degree domestic battery. He has been placed on administrative leave after being with the department since
