The RNC issued more than 400 tickets as a result of Operation Impact, a country-wide effort to ensure that drivers are obeying the rules of the road.

RNC and RCMP set up checkpoints throughout the province watching for impaired driving, distracted driving, and license infractions among other things.

RNC Constable Stephanie Myers says under RNC jurisdiction hundreds of tickets were issued along with some more serious infractions over the long Thanksgiving weekend.

“The RNC issued 437 summary offence tickets from the 10th to the 13th” says Myers. “And from those stats we also had 14 vehicles seized, we had eight drivers’ licences suspended, and in addition to that we had two drivers charged with impaired driving.”
