A South Australian man has been arrested twice in the space of hours after allegedly flooding the police assistance line with more than 70 abusive calls and breaching bail almost immediately after he was released.
Police say the 47-year-old from Hectorville first rang 131 444 about 11am on Tuesday, October 14, launching into a tirade of swearing and verbal abuse directed at a call centre worker.
The call was cut short but it didn’t stop there.
Over the next 24 hours, the man allegedly called the number more than 70 times, tying up emergency resources throughout the day and night.
Just after 5.20am on Wednesday, patrols swooped on his eastern suburbs home and arrested him for using a carriage service in a harassing or offensive manner.
