WASHINGTON — On Day 15 of a government shutdown that has no end in sight, Democrats continued to call for an extension of Affordable Care Act tax credits while House Republicans called out Democratic Senators with large populations of active-duty military personnel for repeatedly voting against their short-term funding bill.

“Democrats have voted nine times not to pay our troops,” House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said at a news conference Wednesday, where he counted the House vote from September that passed as well as the eight federal funding bills that have failed so far in the Senate.
