• Chatty bunch of racists: Politico got a hold of group text chats among leaders of Young Republican groups throughout the country that give an unfiltered look at how potential new leaders of the conservative right talk in private. The messages, spanning 2,900 pages, are soaked in violent, racist, and homophobic language. The words “f—-t,” “retarded,” and “n–ga” appeared more than 251 times. Peter Giunta, the now-former chair of the New York State Young Republicans, said, “I’d go to the zoo if I wanted to watch monkey play ball,” and later referred to Black people as “the watermelon people.” He also texted, “Great.
